Very enjoyable and satisfying conclusion to the story of the Thorley family, bringing us back to the 20th Century and the Spender family, with resolution of the haunting What a wonderful storyteller This book has led me to reflect on the lasting imprints of emotions and behaviors one s presence may leave in the aura or ether or unseen vibrations of one s home Perhaps that s just a fanciful notion, but one that Lofts expertly explores in this two volume story of the remarkable women of two generations who lived in Gad s Hall during the Victorian era and the effects of their imprints on a contemporary family who move in Strong, rule breaking women whose actions against their era s restrictions on them recur in Lofts work Their rebellions expose the constraints of their times and the powerful forces that kept them in place In this story, the mother and each of her four daughters fight the limitations on women in unique ways with dramatically varying results Because the storyteller is Lofts, this is not a polemic, but rather an entrancing historical novel that sweeps the reader along in its wake A very satisfying read. The only kind of horror novel I can read is one where the horror is suggested rather than detailed But even I might have liked a little detail than this book provided On one level, I appreciated the author s choice to leave it all to the reader s imagination and I do mean all view spoiler even the exorcism is a mystery to us after the heroine passes out hide spoiler Loved this historic thriller, gave me goosebumps A fascinating set of novels A look into the lives and thoughts of people in the early 1900 s in country of England Quite a few quaint, old fashioned words It is stories of survival of women in a man s world The women and young, old and in between All of the characters are believable and become your friends and acquaintances The strong effects of proprietary and maintaining one s place in the world is well presented Shame, guilt, fear, and evil all are present Secrets are kept Strong family ties and support of each other is a main theme. This was a re read as I read all the Norah Lofts I could get my hands on in the late 70 s and 80 s, starting with A Roadside Tavern Reading it this time, I felt it would be just as enjoyable without the supernatural element, and without the supernatural element or accurately, the less than terrific resolution of that element I would be giving this book five stars The ending felt a bit contrived, but the rest of the journey through this pair of books was so enjoyable I shouldn t complain All my free time for two days spent in a comfy chair with cups of tea and the tale of Gad s love. This one took me a little time to get through but it was definitely worth it The story begins with one family then dissolves into the history and past of the home they bought I honestly completely forgot about the present situation because I was so wrapped up in the back story It was a good book and quite enjoyable. I read Gad s Hall over a decade ago and really enjoyed it It was a perfect scary gothic The Haunting of Gad s Hall sounds like it should be even chilling, but it wasn t The beginning was promising and the second part was what it should be, but the majority of the first part and the book was the overly detailed backstory for the house with no haunting whatsoever. This is slightly spooky for Halloween Not too scary but the suspense used to be rough on me Popular E Book, Gads Hall The Haunting Of Gads Hall Gads Hall, 1 2 Author Norah Lofts This Is Very Good And Becomes The Main Topic To Read, The Readers Are Very Takjup And Always Take Inspiration From The Contents Of The Book Gads Hall The Haunting Of Gads Hall Gads Hall, 1 2 , Essay By Norah Lofts Is Now On Our Website And You Can Download It By Register What Are You Waiting For Please Read And Make A Refission For You
